Work Ethic

So I guess the purpose of this blog and all of my blogs is to teach something based on my experience and my mess-ups throughout this whole process of trying to get signed. If I can teach something then let those willing to learn from me learn.

Let me first start off by telling you something that Really Doe told me at the Music Conference. For those who don't know who Really Doe is, he is in Kanye West's camp and wrote a lot of the Graduation album for Kanye...anyways he told me that when he and Kanye was working on that album that it was non-stop work and perfection. He said that they wanted to be number 1 and wanted to have the number 1 album in the country, so they put in the work day in and day out. Some nights they didn't even sleep!
I was very impressed with Really Doe after he told me this.

Look, if you don't have work ethic you might as well get out the game now, talent will only take you so far. I really couldn't fully understand what Really Doe was saying until I ended up pulling all nighters the last couple of days. I work 11 hour shifts and then come home and work on my music until my eye lids can no longer stay open. You see, Im going to California on Sunday to see my cousin and to take a week vacation, so before I leave I need to have these songs done. The songs that I'm referring to are the songs that I got from Focus. I have to treat this opportunity like it's my last chance and my only shot to get on. These songs have to be perfect, no excuses. I've been tired and stressed as all hell, but I have to get this done. There is no turning back for me. I'm in too deep now and this is my only shot. Perfection is the only answer. If you don't have a perfection state of mind or work ethic in your music, do us all a favor and get out while you can or you'll get eaten alive by the wolves that are waiting for you. Are you ready? Can you really handle it? It took me 8 years to get like this and I'm not even signed yet. Once I get signed...then the clock starts ticking, success only lasts for so long....but that's another blog
