Humbleness

I've learned something over the past weekend that really made me humble. What I learned is not just for me but anyone trying to do something with their life regardless if it's music, teaching, art, business, etc. I did a show on Saturday at Vineland High School. It was one of the Vineland High Dances. My cousin goes to the school (senior) and he was coordinating the dance. Long Story short, they couldn't find a DJ...so my cousin asked my brother if he wanted to do it, of course he agreed. They also wanted me to perform as a special guest. Saturday I worked my 11 hour shift, drove down 2 hours, and performed...man I was tired, but I learned something.

Vineland High was not the China Club or Atlantic City when I sang the national anthem in front of 8,000 people, but it was still a performance, and those kids were looking forward to me performing. What I learned was to treat every performance just as professional as the next regardless if I'm singing in front of 15 people or 15,000 people. And let me tell you, I was nervous in front of those kids, just as nervous as I was when I did the national anthem. That performance humbled me and made me a better person. I grew up in Buena as a kid but Vineland was the next town over and I pretty much grew up there too...and I will never forget where I came from like so many other people do when they make it.
