100 (last post on this blog)

So it's finally here...100! I told everyone the J-RE blog stops at 100. I hope that when you look back on this blog at all of my 100 posts...that you will be able to learn something from what i wrote. I've been through a lot of ups and downs in this music industry(and acting as well)and learned many many lessons, still learning. But i hope that my lessons teach you what to do and what not to do. The bottom line is that this industry is not easy. If you think it is then you are kidding yourself. It's very difficult, one of the hardest things i've ever had to do in my life. To some it may have come easy but they are the lucky few, like strking the lotto...for me it hasn't, actually nothing in my life has been easy. Everything i have i had to work extremely hard for it.

I do know this though, if you have a dream in your heart...that dream will never ever die. No matter if you are 12 or 100. The dream stays. It's what you choose to do with that dream. Are you going to pursue it, or forget about it? One thing i don't want you to ever forget is to don't do something for the fame. Do it for the art and for the love. If you do it that way, then whatever you produce will always be from the heart, and someone somewhere will feel you. Even if it's just 1 person. At least you touched 1 person and left your mark on the world through that person.


J-RE will always be apart of me, im not ashamed of him, but as i mature its time to put J-RE to rest. My alliace now, is my real name Dave Cirino (Jr). IF you still want to call me J-RE...hey i aint mad at ya! As far as what im doing and what ive learned from it all is if no one is giving you a chance, then you have to create your own chance. No one has ever opened a door for me, i had to kick the doors down. I shopped my demo to no lie over 100 labels, ive had a lot of broken promises. So i left it all behind and decided to do everything my self. Always remember though, u still need people to help you, u still need a team behind you. You cant do everything alone. If it wasnt for my team i wouldnt be able to do anything. I learned production, engineering, web, everything, and applied it to my music. I started my own record label and putting my music out through Purple Fox Digital now. After all of these years of trying to get signed to a major and trying to get famous, ive learned that they arent going to open that door. Ive learned self independance, and to create your own opportunity. A few years ago that would not be possible, but now with all of this technology like youtube, tunecore, etc. there is no excuse for us artists to get heard. We just have to put the work in. Marketing is also the most important aspect of it all. Once your product is created how are you going to market it? how will it sell? Thats something im still learning. Learn Marketing.
