How can i put this in simple terms? Hmmm...Ok...The World is full of Haters! Bottom Line is that a lot of People do NOT want to see you be successful. This is something that every artist should take note of. In this business, you have know that you cannot please man, Man being the human species (male and female). They are never satisfied... you can pour your heart into a song, but yet they are quick to point out every little thing and critisize. You have to learn to have tough skin or you'll get crushed. Don't make your music to please man. Make music from the heart and please your creator.
I remember a few months back this one cat used to hate on me hard...would tell me to my face that my music was hot, but behind my back would say that I was garbage and that I was wack...what did I do...I cut him off and stopped listening. You have to understand that not everyone is going to like what you do, but there are people out there that will love what you do. You cannot please everybody. Do Not listen to the haters, just ignore them and keep it moving.
I remember a few weeks ago I was watching a DVD on hip hop producers. ON the DVD they were talking about the art of producing and what equipment they use to make their beats. I was listening to what the Trakmasters were saying and I was disturbed with some of their comments. They pretty much were bashing and making fun of producers who make their music with keyboards...calling them " Keyboard Producers" and laughing like they were so much better than those producers who make tracks with keyboards. I took offence to that because the majority of my tracks that I produce are done on my Yamaha Motif board which I love so much. Not every producer uses the MPC or the SP's or whatever. Some use only Reason, some the Triton, some Fruity Loops, some The Fantom, some the Motif, some just a beat machine. I thought that that comment was very arrogant and ignorant. Different people have different preferences. Quality is Quality. You may like that Mercedes, but maybe I don't like it...maybe I like that BMW. But anyways...After hearing that comment...Yea I was offended but I DID NOT LISTEN TO THEM CLOWNS...Cause my tracks are just as good as theirs if not better with just my Yamaha Motif. It's not what you have but what you do with what you have.
What am I trying to say? Don't listen to them! Even if they are famous or big time producers or whatever. You have to do what makes you comfortable...Now I'm not saying to not learn the equipment. I mean If your going to be working with cats who only use protools and the MPC then you better learn how to use it, but that doesn't mean that you have to like it just cause they like it. DON"T LISTEN TO THEM
