Destroy and Rebuild

Sometimes in this business, that's what you have to do. It's unfortunate, cause you think you really have friends, that are there for you no matter what, but as soon as something else happens...or your not bringing in no money, THEY'RE GONE!

It wouldn't be fair of me to leave anything out of my life that has happened to me. After all, this is my personal blog. And what kind of blog would this be anyway if I didn't tell all, the good, the bad, and the ugly right?

My situation involves 3 parties. Me, this rapper dude (not even worth putting his name in this) and my so called "Manager" at the time. To make a long story short, I was supposed to perform on Sept.1st in Pleasantville, NJ. I was going to be headlining the show, this rapper dude, was strait hating cause I was headlining, and he was not. He didnt like me or my music from day one. Both of us under the same management. Anyways he threw mad dirt on my name and cooked up a plan to start beef between me and my x manager. It was on some girl SH**. He say She say CRAP. Look I ain't putting no body's business out there, but let's just say me and my manager had a falling out, and things did not work out. But to be honest, things haven't been working out for 3 years...I was stagnant, in the same place for almost 4 years and was getting no where. Doing mom and pop shows ONCE in a while! And that's not his fault, it was mine.

ARTISTS, we have to understand something, we control our careers, not the managers or no one else. WE are the ART, we are the product. They are supposed to be working for us. Not the other way around. A bad manager can really screw up your career. This is not sublime. Bottom Line is I established a friendship with my old manager, but he let his business, ego and arrogance cloud his judgement. At the end of the day Money was more important than Friendship.

In a way it was a blessing. Now I can focus on mastering my craft. Anyways, I called my old manager and said "CANCEL THE SHOW! IM NOT DOING IT" And said point blank, Me, my brother, and my uncle will work hard and we will get signed...AND him and everyone else that hates J'will see me at the top where the air is thin and only champions dwell...

A manager's job is to break their back to get you to the right people that can get you signed, placements, or whatever. Setting up shows, setting up studio time, networking, everything. An artist should only be focused on mastering his or her craft and putting out their best work. They should not be stressed out with trying to handle business and music at the same time. YOU CANNOT call your self a manager if you are not doing these things. BOTTOM LINE! TRUE, the artist should have his own unit/team and be trying to get signed and lining up shows them self, but the manager is supposed to reduce the stress load ya dig. DESTROY AND REBUILD, that's what it is. Destroy the relationships that are holding you back and rebuild with people you trust. This industry is Devilish yo...
