I just wanted to blog about this to my fellow songwriters and singers about writing lyrics. There is a dilema i think with the artist and the people who are buying/listening to the music. Obviously you as the artist need to express yourself the way you want to. Thats the point of being called an "artist" However I think the audience also needs to feel you but not get lost in you to where they can't understand you. That is the approach that im taking on writing my album right now. Like I can write deep lyrics, so deep that you just won't know what the HE@@ im talking about, and that is satisfying to me, but you also have to keep the listener in mind. The key to everything is to keep it simple but subliminally hide your deep thought in your simplicity, so that the audience can relate to what your saying...although you may be singing about something totally different. That's when you know you have mastered your songwriting craft.
To be honest, and lets be honest here folks...Most people are not that deep...Not to take anything from anyone, but people like things done simple and fast. Thats the world we live in today. When constructing music, you have to keep that in mind, Its true that you must make music the way you want...but it is also true that you must not be selfish when making your music, because you are making music for the people. Keep it deep but simple at the same time. Keep it interesting, and people will appreciate you for it. And dont talk about the SAME DAMN THING ON EVERY DAMN TRACK...(hmmm...) think about that one for a minute... Thats what i had to learn on this album in comparison to my last one...Just some advice
