Static

R.I.P. Static Major. Static was a low key behind the scenes dude with major bite. I didnt personally know him, but knew him through his music. For those who don't know who he is, he was apart of the R&B group Playa with the hit single "Cheers to you" He also was a genius songwriter writing Ginuwine's "Pony" "So Anxious" Aaliyah's "Rock the Boat" "Loose Rap" and so so many more songs with a wide array of artists. His recent work was with Lil Wayne "Lollipop"

Static and the group Playa just influenced me a whole lot growing up. A lot of yall dont know this about me but as a kid growing up I was part of a male R&B group called "Exquisite" I was about 18-19 and we had formed this group. It was me, my brother (who is now my DJ and a great producer and sidekick) and Clarence Gunter (who was the lead singer, in which i learned how to sing from him). But anyways man, we were pretty good but dismantled due to life circumstances. Anyways, we used to listen to Boyz 2 men, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge, and Playa for inspiration. And I always noticed how Playa had these beautiful harmonies that were just so inpiring. Them boyz could Sang man, and i also loved Statics style, so cool, man so damn cool, Smokey was cool too yo, but static Static was the man, and Im going to miss him dude. I never got to meet em, but im sure we would have clicked. Him and J-Dilla man, my heart goes out to both of them and their families. I pray for y'all often as well as my good friend Oleg who passed.

Man sometimes i just hurt a little thinking about these catz, my friends and my influences who are no longer here. I mean all i can really do is just try and learn from them. Learn from what they left. study Statics harmonies and lyrics, study J-Dilla's beats and flow, remember my friend Oleg and his friendship. Remember all of that and just incorporate that into my life and into my music. Love your loved ones and tell them you appreciate them.
