The past couple of weeks have been nuts man...Tryna get my demo pacakages together so that I can send them out by the close of 1st quarter. Technically they should have been out by the close of the 4th quarter (which means the end of December) First quarter is from January to March. Man im behind. I mean, the music is done. Been done for months. It's just the paper work, the contacts, the procedure. Trying to package a demo is tough work, I mean I could just burn a cd, write with a black sharpie "J-RE DEMO" and send it out but that's not an acceptable package. Firstly I have to get the permission to send or they will send it right back. And I can't have that happen! Plus I need to be performing more. I need to get my face out there so people can know that J-RE exists you feel what Im saying. Anyways Im focusing on 4 labels right now. Underdog Entertainment/Universal, Blacksmith Records (Talib Kweli's label), Star Trak, and Hidden Beach...Im tryna get witta indie man. Well see what happens...
On another note, the past couple weeks i been going to a few networking parties in New York. 2 weeks ago I was at this Janet Jackson listening party. It was cool. I saw Janet and LA Reid...unfortately they were gone in the twink of an eye. I could' nt get my stuff to LA Reid. On Tuesday I was at this other event for GIANT magazine. I was surprised at how many celebs was up in that piece. P.Diddy was there, Cassie was there, Laura London was there, Cherry Dennis was there. It was a cool event. My brother was handing out mix tapes of me on it and we was passing it to everybody. Cassie walked by us and aint want to take the tape...its aight tho. I ain't mad at you. Anyways I have to say, Im blessed to be going to these events man. Just the opportunity to be around these people. I just have to step it up now and turn it up a notch. This business is tough, but I think the key is persistance. It took me 4 times of seeing Consequence before he finally was like, "Yo wat up Dave" I was like "YO QUENCE YOU REMEMBER ME MAN? Im Dave son, from your album release party!" LOL...It's all in fun.
